“D. John I and the Princes of Avis” is the theme of this year’s Iberian Medieval Fair of Avis

On the 10th, 11th and 12th of May, another edition of the Avis Iberian Medieval Fair will take place, which this year has the theme “D. John I and the Princes of Avis”.

Over the course of three days, the Historic Center of Avis will be the stage for the recreation of historical episodes which, in the light of the literary works written by King João I and his sons D. Duarte and D. Pedro. Pedro, portray the society of the 14th and 15th centuries, the power struggles, both between Portugal and Castile and within royalty itself, social stratification, the dynamics and daily life of the various social classes.

Through theatrical performances, tournaments on foot and on horseback, minstrel games, medieval music and dances, tasting of traditional flavors, visitors immerse themselves in the Middle Ages.

The Avis Iberian Medieval Fair, more than a journey through time, is a journey to our roots, to our History.
