Alcáçovas hosts its traditional rattle fair, dedicated to the manufacture of rattles, today considered by Unesco as Intangible Heritage of Humanity with Urgent Safeguarding.

The Feira do Chocalho is an annual event, held in Largo da Gamita, in Alcáçovas, lasting four days, on the weekend of the 4th Sunday in July.

The event fundamentally aims to value and promote the town’s historical and cultural heritage, with emphasis on Cante Alentejano and Arte Chocalheira as identity elements of this parish. In addition, the event also features crafts, commerce, restaurants, shows, with emphasis on the agricultural exhibition, exhibitions, equestrian and bullfighting activities and sports.
