Borba grew up with wine and this set the tone for the city’s biggest celebration, bringing hundreds of visitors to our city during the event.
Wine and Viticulture are promoted in the most diverse areas and areas of knowledge, from the outset:
– Associated with typical Alentejo and Borba gastronomy, in the restaurants present at the party, in the snacks and tavern circuit and in the associated gastronomic competitions that are very popular, both on the event grounds and in most restaurants in Borba;
– Combined with certified and excellent regional products: cheeses, sausages, olive oil or bread, among others, in organized and informal tastings that take place every day during the festival;
– Carved wine, the result of ancestral knowledge, with more than two thousand years of history, still made in our land, in several private and ancient wineries. On the first day of the party, we invited everyone to taste “Talha Wine”, made in the Municipality’s old cellar.
In November, through São Martinho, Borba is the wine capital of Alentejo!
During the festival days, lots of entertainment is guaranteed (from musical shows on stage to street entertainment and sports competitions), taverns and excellent cuisine, certified regional products (olive oil, cheeses, sausages, among others), crafts and wine tasting.
The party is organized by Borba City Hall, together with the Alentejo Regional Tourism Entity, CVRA – Alentejo Regional Wine Commission and ATEVA – Association of Alentejo Winegrower Technicians.
This is an event with a huge history in Borba and Alentejo and the Municipality intends to promote the best of the municipality with this action, attracting national and foreign visitors (especially Spanish neighbors) to Borba.
