Evoramonte Castle

The town of Evoramonte is located between the cities of Évora and Estremoz. Situated on top of a hill in the town of Evoramonte in the Alentejo, the Castle was built during the reign of King Afonso III in the 12th century. It was a strategic point used in the Christian Reconquista against the Moors.

Evoramonte Castle, or Évora Monte Castle, is a well-known tourist attraction in the Alentejo region. Located on one of the highest points of the Serra d’Ossa. It is a well-preserved castle, and as well as being a tourist attraction, it is also used for cultural events and exhibitions.

With great walls, towers and an inner courtyard, the Castle is very well preserved and is a very popular tourist attraction in the region. Visitors can explore the castle walls, towers and halls, but also enjoy the breathtaking views that surround it.

It is of great geographical and military importance, with walls that still protect its inhabitants today. Evoramonte Castle is a symbol of Portugal’s resistance and history, and a must-see destination for those who love history and exploring the Alentejo region.
