The Story of Dona Octávia and Salsicharia Canense

Dona Octávia is the face of Salsicharia Canense, in the village of Cano, in the municipality of Sousel, in the district of Portalegre.

Working from an early age, and dedicated to this business, she devoted her life to sausage and smokehouse work.

He used to prepare the products at home in the Alentejo, but over time he had to adapt his facilities.

They currently have their own space to receive the raw materials and another space where the sausages are prepared. After this preparation, the sausages go straight to the smokehouse.

Today, it is the only sausage shop in the Alto and Baixo Alentejo with an open smokehouse.

The raw materials used are all Portuguese, and over 90% of the product used is Alentejo pork.

All of Salsicharia Canense’s products are of the highest quality, made with a great deal of love and attention to each product.
